Aggregated results from the 2020 California Pay Data Reporting have been released by the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH). DFEH collects annual data from private employers with 100 or more employees on the pay, hours worked, job category, race/ethnicity, and sex of their California employees. Employers are required to provide these data under Government Code section 12999, effective January 1, 2021, to encourage employers’ self-assessment of pay disparities in the workforce and to promote voluntary compliance with equal pay and anti-discrimination laws.
